In April 2017, open access passenger operator RegioJet announced the acquisition of eight TRAXX multi-system locomotives. The contract includes an option for twenty more machines.cAt the same time, RegioJet announced the acquisition of sixteen new coaches to be produced by Astra Vagone in Romania.

The first two TRAXX locomotives, 386 201 and 202, were delivered by Bombardier in April 2018. They were first taken to the VUZ Velim test center.
