Based on its construction and technical specs, one can conclude that the latest product of CNR Dalian from China is based on the HXD 3C locomotive built for the Chinese Railways. However, the machines, derived from a Bombardier concept, have Toshiba technology on board.

The Chinese locomotive manufacturers constantly improve their products and present new prototype locomotives.

For the first time now, an articulated electric locomotive has been built, with the Bombardier exterior design. Up until now only Siemens and Alstom machines were constructed as twin units.

Two different locomotive have been seen with this design until now; the HXD3E 0001 and HXD3A 0002 (picture). Both locomotives have the same livery. The 3E locomotive has a propulsion system built by Toshiba, the propulsion of the 3A machine is constructed by Bombardier. - ASF
