 In June 2011, Italian operator Compagnia Ferroviaria Italiana ordered two ES64U4 locomotives. A locomotive in grey and red, numbered 190 321, was the first one to arrive in Udine [IT] on 24.12.2011. The second unit came in January 2012. |

What a monday morning post can do... Just minutes after we posted the previous update about the delivery of CFI E190 322, we got different messages from Italy about the same locomotive, but now WITH the logos of CFI. This morning Lorenzo Pallotta was able to catch the locomotive with his camera.
Our comment: The fresh, complementary green of the logo really enhances the locomotive's impression. Its also works good with the greyish base color. The logo itself is made up of a C, F and I with a thick stroke with rounded edges, as if they are written with a thick, perfectly round marker. The result is hard to read, but some creativity must be.
What is disappointing is the total balance of the logo including the company name. It indeed needs the extra red dot on the right, but what is this red thing telling us? Is it only there to save the visual composition?

  On 20.12.2011, the first ES64U4 EuroSprinter for Compagnia Ferroviaria Italiana (CFI) arrived in Udine [IT]. The picture shows CFI E190 321 together with FUC E190.302 and InRail E190 311. on 24.01.2012, the CFI E190 322 is expected to arrive in Udine. - EC
The E190.321 were built in Munich. CFI wants to use them on the Terni-Civitavecchia-Terni relation. - LP

On 02.01.2012, CFI wants to start a service Terni-Civitavecchia-Terni (actually performed by Trenitalia) with E190 locomotives. - LP

It is not done with the ES64U4 production! Last june, Siemens recieved a new order from Italian operator Compagnia Ferroviaria Italiana. CFI will recieve two units with the ES64U4-A configuration. Remarkable is that these machines are not assembled in Linz, but produced completety in Munich. Up till now only the three ES64U4 prototypes (now 1216 001, 226 and 141) were 'made in Munich' . - Siemens
