On a sunny 15 September 2011 BLS 485 506 passes Thun with a Southbound freight. From June till December 2011 the Simplon/Sempione-Tunnel has only one track available due to a fire. It is a sign of the importance of transit freight for the Swiss economy, that international freight trains prevail over ECs to Italy via the Simplon. Nearly all freights scheduled for the Lötschberg-Simplon route have the go-ahead.
