Beacon Rail Traxx AC1

185-CL 001-003 were the first three electrics to be delivered to a leasing company in Europe. UK-based Porterbrook bought the three machines for Connex, to be used for pulling freight trains by various Connex subsidiaries, like the Teutoburger Wald Eisenbahn AG and Regiobahn Bitterfeld Berlin GmbH.

In 2004, leasing company CBRail took over all non-UK activities of Porterbrook. In 2010 CBRail became Ascendos Rail. Ascendos Rail was acquired by Beacon Rail in 2016. Many different owners, but the locomotives are still lease locomotives. In 2016 all three were used by the Captrain group of companies, subsidiary of the French state railways.
