Typical RE train with 146 and 5 doubledeckers. The loco is generally on the Frankfurt (buffer stop) side of the train for this reason: if push-pull operation does not work from the driving trailer, another locomotive can be put in front of the driving trailer without the need to shunt out of Frankfurt central station.
