Amtrak 600 had the distinction of leading the first revenue run of an ACS-64 "Cities Sprinter" electric locomotive. On this day it departed Boston at 8:15am with Northeast Regional train 171. It passed through Elizabeth on-schedule at 1:00pm, and timing was everything for those of us on the platform. Moments before 600 passed on track 3, tracks 1 and 2 were occupied by Amtrak 20 (the Crescent) and Conrail OI-8, a transfer job from Metuchen Yard. Both can be seen heading northbound through Lane Interlocking in this view. The Crescent is on track 1 flying over OI-8 which is in the process of diverting off track 2 onto the Lane Running Track.
